This rare square shaped collectible plate features "Bonnie Prince Charlie and her brave rescuer, Flora McDonald on the beautiful Island of Skye. The prince by that time changed out of the maid's clothing and is wearing a Scottish tartan kilt complete with a sporran. Even a bagpipe can be seen with a lovely bunch of heather and thistle.
The J&G Meakin "Sunshine" line was produced from approximately the 1930s to the 1960s. The plate has a decorative scalloped and embossed edge with gold gilt trim. The plate was manufactured with a hole in the middle so a handle can be attached, but is not included in this listing (handles are still available on eBay for this purpose). Condition: In great vintage condition, no chips or cracks, however it has crazing as the images should show. Measures: 21.5 X 21.5 cm (8.5") approx.
