Exquisite off-white linen handcrafted table mat featuring a very elaborate hand stitched border consisting of individual circular needle lace motifs (it would have taken ages) and more needle lace in the form of lily motifs on both ends of the medium size oval shaped doily. Originating from the early 20th or late 19th century it shows French or other mediterranean characteristics. It will be a focal point wherever you decide to display it.

Condition: Great (used) vintage/antique well preserved for its age. Minor flaws as can be expected with age. Nothing that is unsightly on this one. Please view the images carefully and ask any questions before buying.

Measuring approximately 30 x 26 cm/12 x 10.5".

Beautifully preserved in excellent condition, this rare textile is ready to become a functional centrepiece or treasured display piece in your home. The intricate whitework embroidery demonstrates the dedication and precision that defined traditional linen craftsmanship, capturing techniques that are rapidly disappearing from contemporary practice. Perfect for collectors seeking historical authenticity, design enthusiasts embracing vintage and cottagecore aesthetics, or textile artists exploring slow stitching and upcycling possibilities, this handmade piece offers far more than visual beauty. It represents a meaningful investment in sustainable fashion and a celebration of traditional skills. As these handcrafted linens become increasingly scarce, owning one connects you to a rich heritage of artisanal textile work—a genuine treasure that grows more precious with time.
